A few quick covers this week for the 20th issue.
The Diplomat, Netflix
I do not watch much TV or movies anymore but I was recently put onto The Diplomat on Netflix. It follows a US ambassador to the UK following a terror attack and is a dramatization of global politics. House of Cards was similar but I never could get to the end of that series, lost interest after trying twice to see it through.
Goal Setting
This is just a random YT vid that popped up in my recommended about cutting away goals that may actually be wastes of time. The older I get the more and more I realize I will not be able to do everything i hoped to do as a child And while it is sad realization in some ways it overall is a welcomed sobering. There are so many things fighting for our attention on a daily basis that practicing discipline and focusing on what really matters is gratifying and it also is a great way to get ahead in life.
Hotel Chevalier by Wes Anderson
Wes Anderson has long been my favorite director and I have seen almost all of his films but I was not aware of Hotel Chevalier until this weekend. Hotel Chevalier is a prologue to the full length film The Darjeeling Limited which follows three brothers attempting to fix their relationship. In this prologue we see the youngest brother in a hotel room and he gets a call from an apparent ex lover. She finds him and they have conversations where what they don’t say means more than what they do.
JJJJound X New balance 993s
Lastly I wanted to highlight the anticipated release of JJJJound’s NB 993 collaboration. They have been posting multiple images of the 2 pairs which means we can expect a release soon.
One pair is in the traditional JJJJound x NB colorway inspired by the dirty snow on the streets of Montreal. The other is a darker brown with black accents and is reminiscent of a 990v3 pair they released a few years back that I had but sold. I will try to get both but if I had to pick one I would take the pair in their signature colorway as I have yet to have one of those pairs.
